Harlow District Council and developer Stockland have signed an agreement to develop a 1.3m sq ft mixed-use scheme in Harlow town centre.

A planning application will be submitted in 2010.

The regeneration will reintegrate the northern area of the town centre and Market Square quarter into the existing Harvey Centre and the Water Gardens development to the south. Around 500 homes are proposed as part of the scheme.

Extensive public consultation will take place.

The East of England Development Agency, Essex County Council and the Homes and Communities Agency also support the scheme.
