New images from developers Wilson Bowden show what Macclesfield town centre could look like in 2013. Revised architects' drawings and underground plans show the ambitious vision tipped to transform Silk Town's commercial fortunes.
One image shows the huge open-plan, tree lined town square complete with a pristine lawn, water feature and seating areas. It is expected to attract cafes and restaurants and be a bustling hub of the new centre. A multi-storey cinema will be built opposite, on Churchill Way.
A second sleek artist's impression shows the front of the proposed retail shopping centre, which is set to include a food hall, community hall and large car park on the lower ground floor. Behind and not in shot will be a two-storey Debenhams store - considered the anchor of the entire scheme.
An outline planning application, including the final 'masterplan', is due to be submitted to Macclesfield Borough Council in the Autumn. |
